"TO BE OR NOT TO BE"

In this time of the COVID19 pandemic, I want to share with you a small testimony about the experience, in a very particular event, with the sirens of the ambulances. Its variety of tones, its sound, has become more frequent in the City.

It is worth saying that, in this difficult situation, by Divine Mercy, I have felt the joy of each day. Of life, of nature, of having a God who is absolute in the beautiful, in the good, in the powerful, in the unique love, for each person. In fidelity, and in his closeness on the path of life.

What, almost permanently, reminds me that we are between life and death, between “being or not being”, are the sirens of the ambulances.

I have heard them in various parts of the City. In my residence, in Shopping Centers, Supermarkets, on the roads, even on the other side of the line, when I am in telephone with someone.

Before the pandemic, the sound heard from the ambulances was less intense, and in a different environment. Although it was worrying, knowing that someone was in a critical state of health, with the possibility of dying, was mitigated by the eventuality of timely medical attention. Everything, in the course of normality.

The pandemic changed everything. Emergencies are continuous, the Clinics are occupied by COVID patients, and on several occasions on the verge of collapse in the health system. Similarly, in residences there are people positive for COVID, and in the streets as well. The news reports daily on the numbers of contagion, death and recovery from coronavirus. They call this a new reality. The current Heads of State and Government adopt different policies to try to mitigate the economic and social impact that the pandemic brings with it.

We see the impotence of man. The fragility of a world, once thought powerful, and now threatened and stopped, by a virus, which is not even visible to the human eye. Ambulances with their sound, as they pass, are like a reminder alarm about the reality we have, between life and death.

In the Gospel of Luke Chapter 19, we see that Jesus arriving in Jerusalem, upon seeing the city begins to cry. God loves man, he does not want destruction or suffering from anyone. That is the visible face of God. Man must take care of the planet. As Pope Francis says “The Common House”. We must not forget that either. Several years ago I heard a phrase that said: "When nature groans before the Creator, He hears it." It was from a spiritual dictionary, and it stuck in my mind, and in my heart.

Finally, it is necessary to remember that God only wants man's happiness, and we also want to achieve it. But we do our best to take the wrong direction. We are hard-headed to accept it. God wants A WORLD OF LOVE AND PEACE.
