AT THE END OF THE ROAD

In our walk in life, since always, and forever, God accompanies us out of love. This time I share with you about Divine Mercy, a moment in the history of Father Rodrigo López Lámus, of the Capuchin Tertiary Community. The answer to my question about his Priestly life was: "I am happy with my state." He was born in Charalá Santander del Sur and is 86 years old. Although at some point I seemed to hear that Father Rodrigo suffers from Alzaimer, during the conversation, most of the time he spoke consistently about his life, his Community and his Priestly Ministry.

Remember that Charalá is the land of José Antonio Galán, also that there is a very old Ceiba tree that they had to put columns on.

My meeting with the Priest was on Thursday, November 9, 2017, in which he told me that his parents were called Manuel José López L and María Evangelina Lámus Reyes Fonseca, they went to Charalá for Mass very early every day. A very Christian home. Think that there was no better training site. There were 5 brothers, Manuel, Alicia and Luis Eduardo (the last 2 already deceased), and José Antonio, who is also a priest.

Remember how his vocation was born at a very early age, because the call of the Lord, he felt at 7 years. He frequented the hospital in Charalá, where the Capuchin Tertiaries were. From there and in a few years through various communications he finally arrived in Bogotá.

While we were having a coffee he commented to me the following: “God has loved me very much, and I have tried to correspond, with the pluses and minuses of all existence, with fidelity and constancy. I continue in the Mission fulfilling everything that the Lord is providing me ”.

From the moments collected in the Church of some Parishioners, as celebrant and Confessor, his tenderness, his loving welcome and his great faith stood out.

He is now retired from his pastoral work, and on a holiday Monday in Colombia, November 6, 2017, the Community with great solemnity at the mid-day Mass, celebrated his “60 years as a Priest”, a video of his wonderful work was presented. and religious path. Which shows that it is a source of immense joy and satisfaction. This celebration was also attended by his brother, his priest, José Antonio.

In Father Rodrigo you can see the tranquility that the Lord provides in life. Other priests in old age discuss it with him. And he feels in the environment, how they keep in his heart the satisfaction generated by the work accomplished. God in the morning at birth, and in the evening at the end of the road. There is no reason to fear.
